TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Tampa Bay Comic Con 2014 was the most successful in its Tampa’s history, according to event organizers.
The comic book convention was held from Aug. 1 to Aug. 3 at the Tampa Convention Center.
Organizers say 44,000 people attended the event, which they say is a record for both the Tampa Bay Comic Con and the Tampa Convention Center. Last year attendance was 28,000. Documented hotel room nights also increased from 350 in 2013 to 700 this year.
Popular cosplay at the convention includes Batman, Superman, and other super heroes. They're normally popular at the convention year after year.
The ribbon cutting was held Friday to commemorate the event and celebrate it becoming a member of the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce, and can be viewed below.
