PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA.com) - A Tarpon Springs crew is finally on the way home, after being held in a Honduran prison for almost two months.

"It was a farce," Aqua Quest International captain Bob Mayne said.

They were in Honduras to help locals get better access to waterways but were arrested on May 5, accused of smuggling the weapons they were carrying for protection. U.S. Rep.Gus Bilirakis stepped in to help free them.

"I am going to contact the Honduran government and make sure this doesn’t happen again, because people are not going to go down there without assurances," Bilirakis said. "I’m not finished with this."

Once the crew is back on the US soil, we might get a better idea of how the last seven weeks unfolded.
