Cody Bellinger Becomes First Rookie To Hit 10 Home Runs In 10 Games

Unfortunately for the New York Mets, they ran into the Dodgers at the wrong time. During the last 10 games, the Dodgers set a franchise record for home runs, with 27 over that stretch.  Rookie Cody Bellinger is a big part of the power surge, hitting 10 of those homers. His first inning home run gave him 10 home runs in 10 games, something that no rookie has ever done in the modern era. It was his 22nd home run of the year, and he now leads the national league in home runs. He only trails fellow rookie, Aaron Judge for the overall lead by 2 homers.

While Bellinger was making history, last year's rookie of the year Corey Seager had a monster night of his own hitting three home runs and driving in six as the Dodgers romped the Mets 12-0 in the second of four at Chavez Ravine. Seager left the yard in the first, fourth and fifth innings.  He finished with four hits.

Brandon McCarthy improved to 6-and-3 with six shutout innings.  Los Angeles has won the first two of the set and scored 22 runs.  Robert Gsellman took the loss, giving up seven earned runs in four-and-one-third innings.  New York only had four hits in its fifth loss in six games.
