ST. PETERSBURG (620 WDAE) -- The Tampa Bay Rays got starter Jake Odorizzi back from the disabled list for all of four innings before losing him to another injury.
The right-hander, activated from the 10-day disabled list before the game after dealing with a lower back strain, was hit on the right foot by a line drive off the bat off Red Sox third baseman Eduardo Nunez leading off the fifth innings.
Odorizzi was down on the turf for a brief period before being helped off the field without putting any weight on his foot.
The team announced later int he game that Odorizzi has suffered only a contusion to the foot and that x-rays were negative. He is considered day-to-day.
