Cash Believes Odorizzi Could Make Next Start

ST. PETERSBURG (620 WDAE) -- After watching Jake Odorizzi get hit on the right foot by a liner off the bat of Eduardo Nunez Wednesday, one wouldn't think that the Rays starter may not even miss a start.  But that may end up being the case.

Odorizzi said Thursday that despite the soreness he's experiencing that he still plans on throwing his scheduled bullpen session Friday in preparation for making his next start, a sentiment his manager Kevin Cash echoed.

"He's going to obviously stay off hit foot today," Cash said.  "We knew he was going to come in pretty sore, but I think he'll be OK to get out there, get a little side session and be ready [Monday]."

Odorizzi was just activated from the 10-day disabled list before Wednesday's start after dealing with a lower back strain he said he had been playing through for most of the season.
