It took two goals from Ryan Callahan and 13 rounds in the shootout for the Bolts to defeat the Islanders 3-2.

Ryan Callahan scored just 29 seconds into the second period to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead. He got helpers from Radko Gudas and Valtteri Filppula. The Islanders were able to tie the game 1:04 later off the stick of Ryan Strome. Matt Martin and Matt Donovan assisted on that goal. Donovan scored to give the Isles a 2-1 lead at the 9:17 mark assisted by Frans Nielsen and Anders Lee.

In the third period, the Bolts got another goal from Callahan at the 5:50 mark assisted by Eric Brewer which turned out to force overtime.

The Lightning got a 4-on-3 powereplay opportunity in the OT period after Travis Hamonic tripped Eric Brewer at the 3:51 mark. Neither the Bolts nor the Islanders were able to score, so they headed to the shootout.

It took 13 rounds in the shootout for the Bolts to finally come out on top. Sami Salo got the winning goal in the 13th round.

The Lightning head out on the road Saturday to take on the Buffalo Sabres at 7 P.M. The pregame will get underway at 6:30 on 970 WFLA.
