Ben Bishop's performance led Tampa Bay to a shootout win over Detroit

Ben Bishop stopped 28 saves in regulation and overtime, and six more in a shootout, as Martin St. Louis' goal in the sixth round proved to be the deciding factor in Tampa Bay's 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings
The game was scoreless until late in the first period, when a Gustav Nyquist shot hit Bishop in the blocker, and as puck dropped down at the side of the goal mouth, Kyle Quincey smashed the puck home for a 1-0 Red Wings lead.
Tampa Bay had a couple of excellent opportunities to tie the game in the second period, including a shorthanded breakaway by St. Louis that he shot wide of the net, but couldn't even the contest until the final minute of the period, when Nikita Kucherov wristed the puck from above the hashmarks past Jonas Gustavsson to make it a 1-1 game.
The two teams held each other off the scoreboard through the final 20 minutes of regulation, a five-minute overtime, and five full shootout rounds before St. Louis was able tyo squeak a puck past Gustavsson to start the sixth round. Bishop stopped Johan Franzen's attempt to seal the victory.
The Lightning next head to New jersey for a matchup with the Devils Saturday in Newark.
