The season may be over for the Tampa Bay Lightning, but not all who played for the NHL team this season are out playing a relaxing round on the greens.  For the AHL's Syracuse Crunch, the Lightning minor league affiliate, the season continues deep into the playoffs after sweeping their first round series against the Portland Pirates winning game 3 in OT on Thursday night after Ondrej Palat scored the winning goal with 16.2 seconds remaining in the overtime period.  It was his second goal of the game.  He had also scored the tying goal with just over a minute left in regulation to send it to the extra period.  Palat played 14 games with the NHL club this season finishing with four points (2G, 2A) on the season.
The Crunch advance to the second round of the Calder Cup Playoffs for the first time since the 2007-2008 season.  It also marks just the fifth playoff series win in the 19-year history of the Crunch.
