There are many opinions out there after the Lightning trade for goalie Ben Bishop.  Lightning founder and Hall of Famer Phil Esposito is on board with it.

"Bishop is a big guy....and a very good goaltender", says Esposito on with the Steve Duemig on Wednesday.  The 6-7 Bishop had an 8-5 record with the Ottawa Senators this season with a goals against average of 2.45.

The Bolts sent forward Cory Conacher and a 4th round pick to Ottawa for Bishop.  Esposito says the Lightning have enough young depth on the frontline in order to make this trade. "Had to make a choice between Conacher and Tyler Johnson at this stage", says Esposito.

The Lightning had to make a move for a goalie after the ankle injury to Anders Lindback and ineffective play of Mathieu Garon.  "Unfortunately, the goaltending this year was not good", says Esposito.  That is an understatement.
