Steven Stamkos wasn't exactly doing laps around the rink, but who cares?

The Lightning star took a very encouraging step Saturday morning just being able to lace up a skate on his healing right leg. Though he had gotten on skates earlier this week, this was the first time he joined his teammates.

Tampa Bay Times Lightning reporter Damian Cristodero caught it on tape. Stamkos wasn't doing anything with speed, just some stick-handling and passing with Marty St. Louis and Victor Hedman.

"We've definitely ramped up the rehab part of it,.. but by no means is it close to being fully healed," Stamkos said of his broken right tibia.
