Dave Mishkin, the radio play-by-play announcer for the Tampa Bay Lightning, called into the Ron and Ian show today from Minnesota to talk about the Bolt’s win over the Montreal Canadiens and, of course, the return of Steven Stamkos.

Mishkin tells Ron and Ian that he had the chance to see Stamkos during Monday morning’s practice.

"I thought he looked very good,” Mishkin said.  “I don’t know how his leg is feeling but he is pivoting, turning and having contact.”

Mishkin said head coach Jon Cooper has been joking that even though Stamkos is wearing a white jersey it doesn’t mean he is an egg, the players should not be scared to make contact with him because opposing players will not treat him like an egg when he returns.

The target game for Stamkos’ return is Saturday, February 8th, against the Detroit Red Wings at 7:00 pm.

This is an interesting return date, not only because it is the last game before the Olympic break, but also because the coach of the Red Wings, Mike Babcock, is also the coach of Team Canada Hockey for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

If Stamkos plays in the game this Saturday, Babcock will have a good idea whether or not he will have the center's firepower in Sochi.
