The Tampa Bay Lightning start the road trip after the Olympic break losing to the Nashville Predators 3-2.

Despite any trade rumors or anything else going on behind the scenes, that didn't seem to affect Marty St. Louis on the ice because he came out slinging. St. Louis scored two goals in the first period giving the Bolts an early 2-0 lead. Palat assisted the first goal while Kucherov and Purcell assisted the second.

Matt Cullen and Roman Josi both scored powerplay goals for Nashville within 1:11 to tie the game in the second period.  Cullen’s goal was assisted by Ryan Ellis and Craig Smith while Josi’s goal was assisted by Shea Weber.

The Predators were able to get the winning goal on the power play by Patric Hornqvist at the 13:56 mark in the third period which was assisted by Mike Fisher and Shea Weber.

The real story in this game is the fact that the Lightning had a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission and come out with zero points. Also, the Bolts struggled on the penalty kill because all three Nashville goals were powerplay goals.

The Lightning continue the road trip Saturday when they hit the ice against the Dallas Stars. The puck drops at 3 PM, and the pregame starts at 2:30 PM on 970 WFLA.
