Following Team Canada's win over Sweeden to win the Gold Medal in the men's ice hockey competition, Team Canada Executive Director (and Tampa Bay Lightning GM) Steve Yzerman stepped down from his post with his home country.

“It’s time to let someone else have a shot at it,” Yzerman told the media in Sochi.

Yzerman assembled back-to-back gold medal winning teams for the first time in Canadian history since the 1948 and 1952 games.   This time around Yzerman assembled one of the greatest lineups ever to wear the Maple Leaf for the Sochi games.

Canada gave up just three goals in six games while proving they could succeed on the big ice surface.

The Tampa Bay Lightning restart their NHL schedule on Thursday night in Nashville.
