It's the first full week of practicing in pads, and the decision of who is going to be the starting quarterback for USF has yet to be made.
There is no secret that the battle is between Junior Steven Bench and Sophomore Mike White. The two have proven since day one of training camp in shorts, they can make plays.
Head Coach Willie Taggart says these two QBs have looked good.
"Steven and Mike both (Sunday) I thought they had a really good practice," Taggart said. "Both of them made some really nice throws, but I think our guys made some really nice catches on top of that as well. You see our guys working well together and those guys understand what we're doing, so we're able to be more efficient offensively right now."
Mike White believes this season will be much better than last year regardless of who gets the nod at QB.
"I think it's just a night a day difference in the conversations and in the meeting room and in the group installs and stuff," White said. "We're just a different offense, and I think it's going to show come week one."
QB coach David Reaves says he's very happy with the progress so far with his guys. He says the quarterbacks are seeing the field better just from spring. Reaves says this quarterback competition is a close one.
"It's pretty tight," Reaves said. "They're competing. They are really competing and getting after it. It's making both of them better. They're both doing some really good things in all areas in the run game, the pass game and protection game. It's going to be fun to watch."
