(via University Of South Florida Communications) - University of South Florida Director of Athletics Mark Harlan today announced changes to the senior leadership team within the USF Athletics Department effective immediately.
Harlan promoted four current staff members to new roles within the department. Barry Clements has been promoted to Deputy Director of Athletics. Jocelyn Fisher has been promoted to Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Administration and will serve as the department’s Senior Women’s Administrator. Yulander Wells has been named Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Finance/Chief Financial Officer and Elliot Charles has been named Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance.
“These individuals are all talented, energetic, and share my passion for moving this program forward,” Harlan said. “We, along with the many talented members of this department, including staff and coaches, will set about to lead our student-athletes to success on and off the field. This is an exciting time. Collectively, we will work tirelessly to win in everything we do, provide the best experience for USF student-athletes and fans and position USF Athletics as one of the most competitive programs in the country.”
Clements, who has worked in USF Athletics for more than 30 years, previously served as the Executive Associate Director of Athletics and has provided oversight for nearly every program during his tenure. He is the sport administrator for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and men’s, men’s and women’s track and field and men’s and women’s cross country. He also has oversight of USF Sports Medicine and the Strength and Conditioning Department. A graduate of BallState with a master’s degree from KentState, he is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and nationally recognized in the field after an award-winning early career in athletic training.
Fisher is completing her first year in the department and previously served as an assistant director of athletics for administration. A graduate of Howard University with a master’s degree in kinesiology-sport psychology from Georgia Southern University, Fisher lettered four seasons in the Howard women’s soccer program and has more than seven years experience in collegiate athletics, including stops at Duke University and the NCAA national headquarters prior to coming to USF.
Wells is completing his first year with USF Athletics and previously served as associate director of athletics for business operations, travel and information technology. Wells joined the Bulls staff after four years at the University of Florida Athletic Association, Inc. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration-finance and a master’s in business administration-management from NorthCentralCollege where he was a three-year captain and all-conference player on the basketball team and also competed in track.
Charles, a 2005 graduate of USF, is completing his first year in the department and has over seven years of experience in athletics compliance and academic services. He served his first year as an assistant director of athletics for compliance and has previous stops at the Mid-American Conference office, the University of Alabama, NorthernIllinoisUniversity. Charles has a master’s degree in sport management from IllinoisStateUniversity and a master’s in business administration from Northern Illinois.
Former Executive Senior Associate Director of Athletics Craig Angelos and Senior Associate Director of Athletics Amy Perkins will pursue other opportunities outside of USF Athletics.
