Preseason football. Time to either be overly optimistic or, completely in the opposite direction.

And after the Bucs' preseason opener the latter has the upper hand.

Poor pass protection from the offensive line has led to many wanting the team to shake things up immediately. San Francisco holdout guard Alex Boone is attainable in a trade, and given the performance of the guards in Friday's loss to Jacksonville, many Bucs fans would approve of a move.

Head coach Lovie Smith isn't quite ready for that, however.

"Don't overreact, is what I would say. You guys don't lead the charge," Smith said, addressing the media Saturday. "Let it play out a little bit, through the preseason... that's what preseason is for."
