Gators romp LSU to go to 16-0 in SEC
Posted March 1st, 2014 @ 6:09pm by Darek Sharp

LSU came to Gainesville Saturday with a chance to really improve its hopes for making the NCAA tournament. But that motivation was no match for the hot shooting of Florida.

The No. 1-ranked Gators made nine of their 14 three-point attempts in the first half and hit 57.4 percent overall for the game in rolling LSU 79-61. The Gators led by as many as 29 while improving to 16-0 in the SEC.

Florida has won 21 in a row. Dorian Finney-Smith scored 16 points while both Casey Prather and Michael Frazier had 14.

It was 41-25 at halftime. LSU had the lead down to 13 a minute in the second half, at which point Gator head coach Billy Donovan called timeout to scold Frazier for a turnover. Florida responded with the next nine points and the lead never shrunk below 18.

Florida went up 77-48 with around three minutes to go.

Frazier and Finney-Smith both made four three-pointers and Florida was 13-for-23 on the afternoon. The action aired on sister station 1250 WHNZ.

The Gators (27-2) have two games left in the regular season for a chance at perfect SEC slate. They are at South Carolina Tuesday and host Kentucky next Saturday.
