To have a chance to win another national title, the Florida Gators will have to go through the UCLA Bruins on Thursday night as they face off in the sweet sixteen. The number one seeded Gators advanced with a win over Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon, while UCLA advanced with a win over the twelfth seeded Stephen F. Austin.
Gators radio voice Mick Hubert joined WDAE’s ‘The Sports Page’ on Tuesday and said he’s happy the Gators are facing UCLA instead of the upset minded team from Texas.
“As I was watching the game Sunday night you can be impressed with Stephen F. Austin and what they did, but for me personally I was so glad that UCLA won the game,” said Hubert. “I think the Gators going into the sweet sixteen certainly would have had respect and been ready to play Stephen F. Austin, but I think there’s no question that they (Gators) would have had a little higher degree of intensity if they’re meeting UCLA.”
Hubert believes the Gators have a great chance of advancing to the Final Four for the first time since 2007. You can hear Hubert on the call Thursday night beginning at 9:10pm on 1250am WHNZ.
