Following his run of bad starts, Rays pitcher Jeremy Hellickson has been optioned to Single-A Charlotte of the Florida State League, and left-handed reliever Jeff Beliveau has been recalled from Triple-A Durham.

Hellickson is currently 10-8 on the season with a 5.21 earned run average, but since July 31 has been 0-5 in 6 starts with an ERA of 9.00.  He has only managed to get through the fifth inning once in that span.

The team said Hellickson will not pitch for the Stone Crabs, but use the opportunity to get some rest and return for the stretch run in September.  Charlotte is currently leading the second half of the Florida State League, but could have their season end as early as the first few days of September.
