The optimistic viewpoint of Rays manager Joe Maddon is being pushed to the limit by a discouraging season. But he told Ron and Ian Wednesday morning, he welcomes the challenge, and is not going to change.
"Everything that I believe in is being tested right now, and I kinda like it," said Maddon, telling Ron and Ian that he refuses to change his approach just because wins aren't coming like he's used to.
Maddon reiterated his belief that the Rays can make the playoffs.
"Absolutely. But... it's gotta be a lot of two out of three's," he said, less than 90 minutes before the Rays were trying to indeed take the series from Baltimore.
