The Tampa Bay Rays before Saturday's game with the Boston Red Sox reduced their roster to 39 players by sending six players, including star prospect Wil Myers, to the minor leagues.

Myers, along with pitchers Juan Sandoval, Will Inman, and J.D. Martin were all reassigned to minor-league camp.  The team also optioned outfielder Brandon Guyer and reliever Josh Lueke to the minors as well.

The centerpiece to the offseason trade involving pitchers James Shields and Wade Davis, Myers hit .265 / .316 / .412 with no homers and just a single RBI in 16 spring games.  He was also second on the team this spring in strikeouts with 10.
