The MLB trade deadline is just over 24 hours away as the focus of the baseball world shifts to Tampa Bay and David Price's start this afternoon against the Milwaukee Brewers. Multiple reports have multiple teams interested in the services of Price for a postseason run, but what about the recent surge for the Tampa Bay Rays and their postseason hopes. How does that weigh on the minds of the Rays' brass?
USA Today's senior baseball insider Bob Nightengale joined WDAE's 'The Ron and Ian Show' on Wednesday and spoke about how he believes the Rays are approaching any moves at the deadline.
"The Rays are undecided whether to trade him (Price) or not," said Nightengale. "They're telling teams that if they do trade him (Price), it's going to take a whale of a package because we're back in this race. We (Rays) got to have something that will justify not only our fans but our players that if we trade Price these guys will still help us win and we're not giving up on this race."
Nightengale believes the Rays will get less offered for Price if the team decides to wait till the off season to make the move if they so choose.
The MLB trade deadline is 4pm eastern time on Thursday. For more on Nightengale's conversation involving the MLB trade deadline, click here.
