As reaction continues to filter in from around the country about David Price's trade to the Detroit Tigers, the local Tampa Bay community has lost another longtime member of the franchise due mainly to the financial constraints of the market itself.   Rays owner Stu Sternberg in a statement released yesterday cited the "economic model" and the growing disparity in the sport of baseball as a reason why the trade was made

Detroit Free Press columnist Drew Sharp joined WDAE's "The Ron and Ian Show" on Friday following the deal, and discussed what the biggest difference will be for David Price to adjust to.

"This is a town that lives vicariously through its sports teams so they take pride in that," said Sharp.  "David Price will realize that the fan base here will be a lot better than it was in Tampa Bay.  These people take this stuff seriously and I think he'll love it.  I think he'll love how the Detroit fans will react to him."
