Sunday's Starting Lineups, Maddon On Odorizzi's Improvements
Posted May 25th, 2014 @ 10:10am by Steve Carney

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (620 WDAE) -- The Rays will look for their fourth win in a row and a three-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox.  Jake Odorizzi will look for his third win on the year, while sending Boston to their tenth loss in a row.

Manager Joe Maddon says the improvement over the last couple of starts by the 23-year-old has been noticable.

"I just see a more assertive pitcher, a more aggressive, more convicted in what he's doing pitcher," Maddon said.  "[He has] better game plan, and then the carrying out of that game plan."

The right-hander says he has gotten to the point where he has seen the results of his hard work.

"It feels like things have kind of turned around and I've started to figure some stuff out," Odorizzi admitted. "But it can be back to a bad start if you start getting caught up on what's going on now.  You just have to keep, I guess, evolving as a pitcher."

Odorizzi will take on Brandon Workman (0-0, 1.42 ERA), who was called up from Triple-A Pawtucket to make the start.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:40.
