A few weeks back, Dan Lucas of News Channel 8 did a feature story on Jose Fernandez, a 20-year old pitcher who attempted to deflect his native Cuba with his mother and sister three times before finally being successful in 2008. Fernandez reunited with his father in Tampa, who had Jose train with Orlando Chinea and attend Braulio Alonso High.

Fernandez went on to help Alonso win Florida Class 6A state championships in his sophomore and senior seasons and earned a scholarship to play baseball at USF. Jose would end up being drafted 14th overall in the 2011 MLB draft by the Marlins.

Fernandez' story is one of courage and perseverance and we at the Ron and Ian Show urge everyone to take a few minutes to watch the inspirational story.
