Don Banks, one of the most well respected NFL writers nationally, joined the Sports Page Friday morning and had some pretty positive thoughts on the Bucs.

Banks, former co-worker of Rick Stroud and Tom Jones at the Tampa Bay Times, said the Bucs improved greatly, comparing their situation to what the Kansas City Chiefs last year with a much-needed boost at head coach and quarterback. Andy Reid and Alex Smith turned the Chiefs into a playoff team.

In fact, Banks of SI.com said of the Bucs: "I might pick 'em for a second NFC Wild Card... with my eyes closed really tight."

Going over the Bucs new coaching staff headed by Lovie Smith, Banks said the Bucs "definitely have grown-ups in charge now."
