Miller Ready To Resume Play

PORT CHARLOTTE (620 WDAE) -- Infielder Brad Miller has played in just one Spring Training game this season because of suffering a broken toe at the beginning of camp, but he will resume play today on the back fields of Charlotte Sports Park, playing first base in a minor-league game.

"I feel better obviously," Miller said Thursday.  "The back fields are great.  You can get multiple at-bats in with the whole game environment too, so I'm excited to get out there."

The infielder, who dealt with hip problems in 2017 and had off-season core muscle surgery, said the toe injury was starting to lead to issues elsewhere.

"It was affecting some things so that's why we had to be smart about it," Miller admitted.  "Obviously, everybody's been on the same page.  It's been pretty good, but frustrating for sure."

But despite missing nearly three full weeks of games, he believes he'll be ready for Opening Day.

"Carlos [Gomez] got here three days ago," Miller joked.  "We'll be OK."
