Adames Returns As Rays Open Series With Jays

ST. PETERSBURG (620 WDAE) -- The Tampa Bay Rays will look to turn the page, as they welcome in the only team below .500 they'll see in the entire month of June, the Toronto Blue Jays.  Ryan Yarbrough will get the start for Monday's opener, taking on Sam Giviglio.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m., with coverage on WDAE beginning at 6:00 with The Inside Pitch presented by Crown Eurocars.

ROBERTSON HEADS TO DL: Prior to Monday's contest, the Rays placed infielder Daniel Robertson on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring, and recalling shortstop Willy Adames from Triple-A Durham.

Robertson suffered the injury in the first inning of Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners, coming out of the game after grounding out to begin the bottom of the first.

Adames played in three games with the Rays at the end of May, hitting .167/.167/.417 with a home run and one run batted in.

ARCHER "SIDETRACKED" IN RETURN: Manager Kevin Cash also said Monday that RHP Chris Archer will not throw a simulated game Tuesday at Tropicana Field as previously planned, calling him "sidetracked" in his return.

"[He] woke up today feeling not that great so we're going to take a little more of a conservative approach," Cash admitted.  "I don't think it's anything too alarming, but we want to make sure that once we start that process of ramping back up and getting him going that all of those symptom have subsided, and obviously they haven't."

NUMBER OF THE DAY:

.667

The winning percentage of the Rays against teams with sub-.500 records this season (18-9).  In contrast, Tampa Bay is just 11-26 (.297) against teams with winning records this year.  Toronto is the only sub-.500 team the Rays will face this month.  Tampa Bay has lost 13 of the 26 games to winning clubs by one run: six games to Boston, five to Seattle, and one each to Philadelphia and Atlanta.
