Ramos Named American League All-Star, Snell Snubbed

As expected, Tampa Bay Rays catcher Wilson Ramos will be representing the team in the 2018 All-Star Game this season.  However, left-hander Blake Snell was not named to the team's pitching staff.

Ramos, 30, will be making his second career All-Star Game appearance, having been named to the National League All-Star team in 2016 with the Washington Nationals, but did not start.  He's currently leading all American League catchers in hits and RBI and is tied for second in home runs, behind New York's Gary Sanchez.

Snell, 25, was not named to the team despite being second in the American League in wins with 12, and  leading the league in ERA at 2.09.  Snell was also ranked fourth in opposing batting average and eighth in K/9, but was passed over in favor of Houston's Gerrit Cole by Astros manager A.J. Hinch, who selected the pitching staff.
