The Carolina Hurricanes (2-0) knocked off the Tampa Bay Lightning (0-2) for the second night, winning 6-1 on Friday night in Raleigh.
Janne Kuokkanen started the scoring for the Hurricanes with a power play goal in the first period. The second period saw Dougie Hamilton and Martin Neces add goals. The Lightning looked like they might answer when they started the third period with a Boris Katchouk goal, but Carolina answered with three more goals, including two on the power play, to clinch a 6-1 blowout win.
The Lightning continue preparing for the regular season on Friday in Nashville when they play the Predators. Puck drop Friday night is scheduled for 8 PM - coverage begins at 7:30 on News Radio 970 WFLA.
