REPORTS: Tampa Bay Rays Set To Purchase Tampa Bay Rowdies

According to multiple reports, the Tampa Bay Rays are set to officially purchase the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the United Soccer League.  The Rays are reported to also be purchasing the rights to Al Lang Stadium as well, which is placed on the water front in St. Petersburg.

No official details have yet been revealed, but there is a 10:30am news conference scheduled tomorrow morning.

Current owner Bill Edwards bought the Rowdies in 2013 and transformed Al Lang into a soccer specific field. He added 1,100 seats to the stadium, which still has the shape of a baseball stadium, including dugouts for the two teams.
