2020 Florida State Football Schedule Released

Florida State Fans

(via FSU Communications) - Florida State’s 2020 football schedule, which features a season-opening neutral-site clash and six home games, was released Wednesday morning.

The Seminoles open their season Sept. 5 against West Virginia in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game inside Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Florida State is returning to the home of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons for the second time in four seasons after facing Alabama in the 2017 season opener, which was the first collegiate game played inside the stadium.

Florida State’s first home game is the next week when it hosts Samford on Sept. 12. The Seminoles then travel to Boise, Idaho, to take on Boise State on Sept. 19. That game will be FSU’s first in the state of Idaho and one of the western-most sites for a game in program history. The only games played farther west than Boise are Florida State’s appearances at the Rose Bowl for the 2014 BCS National Championship Game and the 2015 College Football Playoff Semifinal, the 2006 Emerald Bowl in San Francisco, at USC in 1997, the 1991 Pigskin Classic played at Anaheim Stadium and games played at San Diego State in 1973 and 1977.

After their only open date of the season, the Seminoles are on the road again to face North Carolina State in Raleigh on Oct. 3. Florida State then begins a stretch of three home games in four weeks when it hosts Clemson on Oct. 10 and Wake Forest on Oct. 17. After an Oct. 24 game at Louisville, FSU is back in Doak Campbell Stadium for a Halloween matchup against Pitt. The Seminoles and Panthers are meeting for the first time in Tallahassee since 1982 and the second time as ACC members following a 41-13 FSU win in Pittsburgh on Sept. 2, 2013.

Florida State begins the final month of the season at Miami on Nov. 7. The Seminoles host Boston College on Nov. 14 before a short week that concludes with a Thursday game at Syracuse on Nov. 19. That game against the Orange will be Florida State’s first regular season Thursday contest since defeating Louisville on Oct. 30, 2014. The Seminoles wrap up their regular season by hosting Florida on Nov. 28.
