Memphis Ends USF's Season 79-77 In AAC Tournament

The USF Bulls (10-22, 3-15) fell to Memphis (20-12, 10-8) 79-77 on Thursday afternoon in the first round of the AAC Tournament.

A week after USF upset the Tigers on the road, Memphis started this game committed to not allowing a repeat of that performance.  They built a 38-29 lead at halftime and led by 15 midway through the second half before the Bulls began pushing back.  David Collins keyed the rally en route to a game high 30 points, and USF pulled within 79-76 with under 20 seconds to go.  Stephan Jiggets had an opportunity for a game-tying three pointer as time expired, but it missed, and though USF was fouled and had a chance from the line, were not able to pull closer than the 79-77 final score.

Collins shot 11-for-13 in his phenomenal game, while Jiggets added 16 points for USF.  Memphis, which advances to meet Tulsa in the AAC Quarterfinals, was led by 27 points from Kyvon Davenport.  USF now looks to ahead to next season looking to improve on a campaign that saw them win three conference games and win three more games than 2016-2017 under the direction of first year head coach Brian Gregory.  Keep it locked into 620 WDAE and 620wdae.com for the absolute best USF Bulls coverage.
