Charlie Strong Out As Bulls Head Coach

A 4-8 season spelled the end for Charlie Strong at USF.

Dan Wolken of USA Today is reporting that the University of South Florida has fired Strong after three seasons as head coach.

The University made the announcement Sunday afternoon.

"I would like to thank Coach Strong and his staff for their hard work and contributions to our program," AD Michael Kelly said in a statement. "I have tremendous respect for Coach Strong and his dedication to recruiting and developing young men of talent and character and leading them with integrity. He has represented USF with dignity and class and we wish Coach and his family the very best."

Strong had a 21-16 record in three seasons with the Bulls, but after going 10-2 in his first year, saw the program take steps back each of the last two seasons. USF dropped to 7-6 in 2018, losing their final six games of the year including in the bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl, then finished 4-8 this season. He also went winless against ranked teams with an 0-6 record in three seasons, went just 3-11 against teams that finished with winning records, and failed to beat UCF in any of his three years at the helm.
