Rays Win 6th In A Row 9-5 Over Orioles

The Tampa Bay Rays (10-13) knocked off the Baltimore Orioles (6-19) 9-5 on Thursday night in Baltimore.

The offensive explosion continued for the Rays, who have now scored eight or more runs in five straight games while winning six consecutive.  Tampa Bay got the offense started early, as CJ Cron hit a two-run home run in the first inning to set the tone.  Wilson Ramos hit a two-run home run in his own right to take a 4-0 lead in the second inning, before the Rays got two more runs in the third inning from Daniel Robertson and Wilson Ramos coming through with singles.  When Baltimore got two runs in the bottom of the third, the Rays answered with two more in the top of the fifth inning that would put this game out of hand for Tampa Bay.

Chris Archer (2-1, 6.61) pitched five and a third innings, allowing four earned runs, in picking up the win.  After scoreless outings from Chaz Roe and Jose Alvarado, Sergio Romo allowed one earned run.  Alex Colome finished the game off and held on to the four run win for Tampa Bay.  For the Orioles, Dylan Bundy (1-3, 2.97) had a rough outing, allowing eight runs, seven of them earned, in just four and a third innings of work in the start.

The Rays now head to Boston for a three game weekend series against the Red Sox on Friday night.  First pitch from Fenway Park is scheduled for 7:10 PM - coverage gets underway at 6 with The Inside Pitch on 620 WDAE & 95.3 FM.
