PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Pinellas County deputies arrested a man they say was cooking meth on Gandy Beach.
Deputies say they noticed a suspicious vehicle parked along the tree line of the beach Saturday night just before 10:30 p.m. They checked it out and say they found 24-year-old Charles J. Tapp of St. Petersburg along with several needles inside the truck.
Deputies say the suspect was also seen placing items into a bag located in the back seat of the truck and through the investigation, deputies also saw items indicating the vehicle was possibly being used to cook methamphetamine.
Tapp was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of the chemicals pseudoephedrine and hydrochloric gas, deputies say.
During an interview, deputies say the suspect admitted to actively manufacturing methamphetamine.
