Bolts Select Defenseman Cal Foote In 1st Round

The Tampa Bay Lightning had a goal of getting young defensemen this offseason. That started with the Drouin trade and continued Friday night with the Draft. The Bolts selected Cal Foote from the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL. The 20-year old has an outstanding pedigree. His father played in the NHL from 1992 to 2011 and won 2 Stanley Cups with the Colorado Avalanche. Foote has great size for a rookie, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 215 pounds. He will be a welcome addition to Tampa Bay's stable of young defensemed led by Jake Dotchin and new acquisition, Mikhail Sergachev.
