PORT CHARLOTTE (620 WDAE) -- The Tampa Bay Rays saw their 2-0 lead disappear in one swing, and it only got worse from there.
The Philadelphia Phillies scored four times in the sixth and added two more in the seventh to turn a 3-2 advantage into a 9-2 runaway win over the Rays Friday at Charlotte Sports Park.
Tampa Bay scored single runs in each of the first two innings, with Wilson Ramos' RBI ground out scoring Joey Wendle to open the scoring in the first, and Christian Arroyo's RBI single plated Joe McCarthy to make it 2-0.
Philadelphia ties things up in the third, as Scott Kingery got a hold of a Dan Runzler offering and sent it into the home bullpen, his third home run of the spring.
In his first spring outing of 2018, Alex Colome allowed an RBI double by Ryan Flaherty to break the tie in the fourth and give Philadelphia the lead for good.
Daniel Hudson made his Rays debut in the sixth and after getting a groundout by Maikel Franco to start the inning, saw his outing turn sour. He allowed a single by Pedro Florimon, a walk to Roman Quinn and hit Cameron Rupp with a pitch. He then uncorked consecutive wild pitches that allowed runs to score, then gave up an RBI single to Ryan Flaherty before being pulled. R.J. Alaniz then gave up an RBI double to Eliezer Alvarez, allowing Flaherty to score.
Ryne Stanek allowed a two-run homer to Jesmuel Valentin to set the scoring.
The Rays will head back to the Tampa Bay region for the weekend, with matchups Saturday in Lakeland against the Detroit Tigers and Sunday in Tampa against the New York Yankees. Chris Archer will start Saturday's matchup, while Nathan Eovaldi will get the start Sunday. Both contests begin at 1:05, with coverage on WDAE both days beginning at 12:30 with Countdown to Opening Day.
