Storm Add WR Kendal Thompkins to Fill Hills Hole

After losing top receiver Joe Hills (see previous story) the Tampa Bay Storm made a move this week, in advance of their return from a bye to host Washington (Saturday 7 p.m.) at Amalie Arena.

From Storm PR -- The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired veteran wide receiver, Kendal Thompkins, announced vice president of football operations, Jeff Gooch.

“Kendal has the ability to be a difference maker on offense,” said Gooch.  “He’s a veteran of the game and has shown he can be one of the top receivers in this League when given the opportunity.”

Thompkins (5-foot-10, 180 lbs., Miami) enters his first season with the Storm.  He began the season with the Baltimore Brigade, appearing in two contests and catching seven passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns.  Thompkins has also seen action at kick returner this season, accumulating 11 kick returns for 166 yards, including a 54-yard return for a touchdown.

The three-year veteran began his professional career in 2014 with the Orlando Predators, spending three seasons with the team.  Over the course of his career, Thompkins has caught 198 passes for 2,695 yards and 38 touchdowns.

The Miami native played collegiately at the University of Miami, appearing in 47 games for the Hurricanes.  For his career, he has caught 14 passes for 152 yards and three touchdowns.
