New Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith joined Steve Duemig for an exclusive one-on-one conversation, and admitted there were a more than few reasons on the roster that showed taking the job here in Tampa Bay was the right choice.

"When I looked at the roster, we saw not just key players, we saw very good football players in key positions," Smith told the Big Dog.  "Not just on the defense, but our offense too."

"We're 4-12, I realize that, but there's a good foundation to do some good things."

Smith also credited his time here as a linebackers coach under Tony Dungy that has helped mold his outlook as a head coach.

"There are some principles that were formed here being on Tony's first staff, and being able to coach guys like Derrick Brooks, Hardy Nickerson, and I've carried them."

Smith also went into what he sees in new offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford, and how long he's followed the career of new defensive coordinator Lesley Frazier, as well as his thoughts on quarterback Mike Glennon.
