There have been better days in Seminoles postseason lore.

With both teams holding championship aspirations, FSU instead bowed out quickly in both the Softball CWS and baseball regional round.

Famously the Noles baseball team has never won a national championship but this year it didn't even get close to that level. FSU was edged by Alabama 6-5 on Saturday. The Noles nearly pulled off an incredible rally from down 6-0 entering the ninth.

Clemson beat FSU Friday to send the Noles, who were the regional host and a national seed, into the losers bracket.

Miami is also a regional host and could take advantage, with Super Regional hosting rights now theirs against the Tallahassee winner, but it lost to Texas Tech Saturday, meaning the Canes will meet Bethune-Cookman with the winner having to defeat TTU twice to advance.

Meanwhile the softball squad, making its first trip to the CWS since 2004 with a lofty 55-7 record coming in, went 0-and-2 in Oklahoma City. On Saturday the Noles fell 7-2 to Baylor. Bears shortstop Jordan Strickland hit a pair of two-run homers.

Palm Harbor U. graduate Maddie O' Brien had a great year for FSU, earning All-American honors. Head HERE for more of a final recap of the season from the Seminoles official website.
