Only one word truely defines the performance of USF in its 83-40 loss to UConn Wednesday night: Ugly.
UConn dominated the entire first half going 16-for-25 from the floor. USF went an atrocious 4-for-23. At one point, Martino Brock shot a free throw which didn’t hit anything but the floor.
After one half, UConn had a commanding 45-14 lead over USF. Corey Allen Jr. led the Bulls at this point with five points. The Bulls just couldn’t get anything going the entire game. It seemed like the only way the Bulls could get points on the board was from free throws or goaltending fouls by UConn.
Musa Abdul-Aleem knocked down two three-pointers midway through the second half. That was probably the only good thing to come out of this game for USF.
USF only scored 20 points in 30 minutes of basketball. Turnovers and just straight up misses were the reason.
The Bulls were flirting with a school record for fewest points scored in a game. The record is 36. USF was able to avoid this scoring 40.
UConn defeats USF 83-40. The Bulls went 12-for-50 from the floor while UConn went 28-for-52.
Offensive leaders: UConn: DeAndre Daniels – 12 pts. USF: Musa Abdul-Aleem – 8 pts.
The Bulls fall to 3-8 in the AAC and 12-12 overall.
USF will play UCF at home on Saturday, February 15 at 1:30 PM.
