According to CBSSports.com MLB Insider Jon Heyman, the Tampa Bay Rays have joined the New York Mets in trade talks with the Seattle Mariners for infielder Nick Franklin. Heyman referring to his sources says the Rays may have an upper hand on the Mets based on extensive trade talks this past winter involving Rays ace pitcher David Price.
The 22 year-old infielder from Sanford, FL played in 102 games last season for the Mariners batting .225 with 12 home runs and 45 RBI. Franklin was first round pick (27th overall) of the Mariners in the 2009 MLB amateur draft.
