The Tampa Bay Rays and Kansas City Royals tried to play Thursday's game, but Mother Nature had other plans.
After waiting for two hours in first rain, then a mix of rain and sleet, and finally snow (yes, it's confirmed today is indeed May 2), the game was postponed after three and a half innings and scheduled to be played at a later date.
Kansas City had taken a 1-0 lead in the third, when Elliot Johnson singled, stole second, and scored on a base hit by Alex Gordon.
Because the game did not get to the required five innings for the game to be considered official, the game will be replayed from the very beginning, and all statistics from Thursday will be disregarded.
The likely date this game will be replayed is June 3rd, a mutual open date for both teams, as Tampa Bay will be in-between road series with the Indians and Tigers, while Kansas City will be coming home from Texas to start a homestand.
