Tampa Bay Storm quarterback Adrian McPherson signed with the Canadian Football League’s Calgary Stampeders, announced vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch Thursday.
“We are happy that Adrian has this opportunity with the Stampeders,” said Gooch. “You never want to lose a player like Adrian, however we are excited when a player of his caliber has the chance to excel. As an organization we strive to look for players that, like Adrian, have the ability to take their talents to the next level.”
The former FSU and Bradenton Southeast player spent one season with the Storm. During the 2013 season, McPherson completed 238-of-385 passes for 3,151 yards, 59 touchdowns and five interceptions. He leaves Tampa Bay as the team’s single-season leader in rushing attempts (90), rushing yardage (428) and rushing touchdowns (31). His 31 rushing touchdowns is an Arena Football League single-season record for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.
An injury ended McPherson's season early and precipitated a seven-game losing streak to end the regular season.
Prior to joining the Storm, McPherson spent five seasons (2008-2012) in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes.
